Ian White joined the Faculty staff team in 2001, having previously been both a full-time undergraduate and part-time postgraduate student at the college. He has had links with the college since the late 1970’s!
Ian is Senior Tutor at the college and the Programme Leader for the growing Short Courses programme. He co-ordinates the non validated training provision on site, through day and mid week events, as well as a series of vocational retreat weekends and week long Cliff College Certificates.
Ian is the Course Leader for the part-time undergraduate Level 6 BA in Mission and Ministry course, which is part of the vocational Mission and Ministry programme focused on Children, Youth, Third Age, Family, Sports and the Creative Arts which is headed up by his colleague Carolyn Edwards.
Ian is the Summer & Autumn School Co-ordinator for the expanding college programme which allows participants to explore further academic possibilities here at the college during August, and in 2017-18 is on the road in London with our first Autumn School.
Ian also acts as the Festival Co-ordinator for the college annual weekend Festival event which takes place every May bank holiday weekend.
With a long personal involvement in the Middle East, Ian is course tutor for the college teaching week focussed in Israel/Palestine. The ‘Luke in the Holy Land’ teaching week is an optional course which is offered to undergraduate students and Methodist guests.
He has special interests in social justice, Christian leadership and ministry, spirituality and discipleship, arts and community.
As another part of his life, and supported by Cliff College, Ian is the Executive Director of Micah68, (www.micah6-8.org.uk) a Christian organisation offering support to the people of the Middle East. This ministry focuses on advocacy, friendship and practical support for a variety of projects across the region.
Ian is a Methodist Local Preacher, worships at a local Methodist Church in Sheffield, and chairs the 35 Chapel Walk arts centre management group.
