BA (Hons) Children's and Youth Ministry

Children and Youth Ministry StudentsThe BA (Hons) degree in Children's and Youth Ministry is a two year, part time undergraduate course which aims to further extend the training of children and youth workers by building on the CEN & YMM diploma courses. This allows students to achieve a BA honours degree through a 4 year part-time programme, an increasingly attractive way of academic achievement for students whilst being rooted in local life and ministry.

As with the CEN and YMM diplomas, the BACYM is a part-taught, part-researched course, teaching offered via five week long residential teaching units spread over the 2 years (3 in year 1, 2 in year 2). Students are supported by supervised distance learning by their Personal Tutor, as well as being locally supported via their Placement Supervisor and Ministry Mentor. The course is assessed via a variety of assignments ending with a dissertation (8,000 words) of the student's own choosing.

The teaching units include:

  • Cultural Perspectives on Christian mission
  • Christian Education and Formation
  • Management of self and work
  • Childhood and Adolescence
  • Christian service and ministry

The Course Director is Ian White, Children's and Youth Work Programme Leader at Cliff College, working alongside the Course Leader, Sharon Prior, Catalyst Training. Unit Tutors are drawn from the CEN & YMM staff and include Bart Woodhouse, Paul Wilcox, Piers Lane, Yaz Finch and Claire Saunders. Other specialists in the field are also drawn on throughout the course.

There is a limit of 15 students per year accepted on this popular course. If you are interested in starting a 4 year part-time programme leading to a BA (Hons) degree, then download the BACYM application form, reference form and prospectus.

Or please contact our Undergraduate Administrator, Rosie Bourne for an application form and prospectus should you wish it to be sent by mail.
