Interns and scholarships

Cliff College has filled its two Intern position for 2011-12. 

The college will be recruiting an evangelist intern and a postgraduate intern for Sep 2012 (see below). 

 

Two Intern Positions @ Cliff College

     Sep 2012 - June 2013

 1                 Intern Evangelist

 

  • Working with the Evangelism Dept
  • Focusing on schools ministry

 

 Suitable for someone looking towards an evangelistic ministry.

 

2                 Postgraduate Intern

 

  • Working with the Faculty
  • Delivering tutorial support, occasional lectures and other academic duties
  • Including part-time study at MA or MPhil/PhD

 

 Suitable for someone looking towards an academic ministry

 

Both positions inc a bedroom for the year, meals in college during BA Th term times, any academic fees paid and an allowance of £50 per week.

Postgraduate Intern Scholarship

        @ Cliff College 2012-2013

 Introduction

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to play a real and vital part in the life of Cliff College for one academic year. As a Postgraduate Intern, you’ll be offered food and accommodation, receive an allowance each week, and study the first year of a PT MA or MPhil/PhD without paying fees.  You will work alongside the Faculty, under the direction of the Academic Dean, in assisting the delivery of the academic programme. You’ll have opportunity to grow in your own faith, and will be encouraged and nurtured in developing your academic skills. The months spent on this internship role will be useful on your CV for future roles, in particular for someone who may be interested in employment in an academic setting.

Please include a CV. We’ll contact you by Monday May 28th to let you know whether or not we would like to interview you for the role. Interviews will take place the week commencing Monday 4th June by mutual arrangement.

 

Main duties:

1.      Work within the academic programme of Cliff College;

2.      Work with BA Th students in delivering occasional lectures, providing tutorial support, assisting in marking and other academic duties;

3.      Study part-time on Cliff College’s MA in Mission or MPhil/PhD programme:

4.      Take opportunities to speak at/visit events to represent Cliff where potential students may be recruited;

5.      Lead a home group meeting:

6.      Participate in the worship life of the college.

 

Person specification:

The ideal candidate will

1.      be a committed Christian and regular church attendee;

2.      have a 2:1 degree or better in theology or a related area;

3.      fully support the ethos of the college;

4.      be able to work as a member of a team;

5.      be able to communicate effectively with the student body;

6.      be able to manage projects, demonstrating vision and goal-setting, communication and administrative skills;

7.      have good IT skills;

8.      be a car driver and license holder;

9.      be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.

 

 Living arrangements, expenses and allowance

1.      The appointment will begin on September 10th 2012 and end on June 7th 2013.

2.      The appointment will be full time during academic terms.  Hours per week will be negotiable, though will be not less than 35. Occasional evenings and weekends will be necessary. Attendance at the college’s Festival weekend is compulsory.

3.      15 days holiday may be taken during the period of the internship, as well as statutory bank holidays.

4.      The Postgraduate Intern will be line managed by the Academic Dean.

5.      The Postgraduate Intern will be encouraged to live in College, and accommodation will be provided free of charge. No accommodation allowance is payable to an Intern choosing to live off-site. The accommodation will be available outside of term time.

6.      All meals will be provided in college during term time. Should the Postgraduate Intern choose to stay in the accommodation outside of term time, meals will be their responsibility.

7.      An allowance of £50 per week is payable.

8.      All reasonable and agreed expenses will be covered, including mileage at the agreed rate.

9.    The Postgraduate Intern will follow either the MA in Mission programme, or the MPhil/PhD programme part-time.  The College will pay the fees associated with this for 2012-13.  The postholder will continue with this study at their expense when their internship has completed.  For details of the postgraduate programme in mission see http://www.cliffcollege.ac.uk/page/taught_programmes.
