Part III: Writing your Dissertation

Postgraduate Online Study Skills & Research Course Part III: Dissertation

(to be completed by all students)

You should already have participated in the Postgraduate research forum during Part II of the online course. The forum continues to remain a place where you can ask questions and interact with other Postgraduates as well as members of the faculty in order to improve both your research skills and writing skills while doing your dissertation.

Part III of the online course is to be completed as you prepare to write your dissertation. It is also a reference for yourself as you write up your dissertation.

At this stage it might be good to remind yourself of the recommended timeline for your dissertation. Please note too that the final deadline for your dissertationis is March 31st in any given academic year. Remember to give yourself plenty of time to get the work proof-read before submission so that necessary changes can be made in good time. It is a good idea to aim at getting the draft version finished before Christmas. In this way you can begin the editing and rewrite in January, and still have time for revisions after getting the work back from the proof reader in February.

Please note submission of dissertations takes place in the normal way (in pdf format). However once your dissertation has been assessed (and passed) you will need to get your work printed and bound according to Cliff College regulations.
