postgraduate Taught programme in mission

The Cliff College MA in Mission programme is among the largest in the British Isles with 110 students. Validated by the University of Manchester, the programme has 11 distinct streams and students are able to follow a particular stream; a stream usually has two required units, an additional two optional units and a dissertation. It is also possible to choose a selection of units, plus a dissertation, and graduate without a designated stream.

It is also possible to take any of these streams as a Postgraduate Certificate (two units) or a Postgraduate Diploma (four units).  All units are taught in five-day (MonFri) intensive teaching blocks, enabling students from across the British Isles, Europe and further to follow the MA in Mission programme while remaining in employment.

  • PhD in Missiology (delivered part time only)

This is a research degree programme that is studied with a cohort and includes two short residential periods per year where there is some lecture input. Students produce a literature review in year one, a peer-reviewed journal article in year two and a dissertation proposal in year three, with a 40,000 word dissertation in years foursix; all submissions are at doctoral level.

Most of the accommodation on the undergraduate and postgraduate part-time courses is focussed within the newly refurbished Broadbelt / Eagles building, using the William Davies lecture room as the teaching centre. The refurbished rooms (single, double and family sized) are all en-suite, are Wifi connected, contain a hospitality tray and towelling, and have their own TV. Larger rooms also have additional seating areas. The lounge coffee bar area is already being well used by students, and the roof terrace opens shortly. The William Davies lecture room is specifically designed with the latest academic technology, is well lit, and can seat up to 30 students. The lower floor of the building is wheelchair accessible for both accommodation and teaching.
