The Cliff College MA in Mission programme is among the largest in the British Isles with 100+ part-time students and 10 full-time students.  Validated by the University of Manchester, the programme has ten distinct streams and students are able to follow a particular stream, which usually has 2 required units, an additional two optional units and a dissertation. It is also possible to choose a selection of units, plus a dissertation, and graduate without a designated stream.

It is also possible to take any of these streams as a postgraduate certificate (2 units) or a postgraduate diploma (4 units).  All units are taught in five-day (Mon-Fri) intensive teaching blocks enabling students from across the British Isles, Europe and further to follow the MA in Mission programme while remaining in employment.

Overseas students who require a visa are particularly welcomed to consider this full-time programme.  Current full-time students include those from England, Scotland, Fiji, India, Nigeria, Ghana and Korea.

The streams are as follows:

  • MPhil and PhD (Full or Part-time) A full research degree programme is also available. We are encouraging applications for research in areas of mission, evangelism, church leadership and emerging church at both MPhil and PhD levels, part-time or full-time.
  • PhD in Missiology (Part-time)  A research degree programme that is studied with a cohort and includes 2 short residential periods per year where there is some lecture input.  Students produce a literature review in year 1, a peer-reviewed journal article in year 2 and a dissertation proposal in year 3, with a 40,000 word dissertation in years 4-6 - all at doctoral level.
