'Refreshed and renewed', 'Helped me refocus my Christian life', 'Taught me to live a simple, loving, caring Christian life', ''Enabled me to expand and gain more knowledge', 'Made some amazing friends','A great boost and encouragement', 'A good retreat to revive my personal spirituality and service in ministry', 'A wonderful space to pray and reflect'. These are just some of the testimonies from Summer School participants in recent years.

We now look to 2015 and our 5th Summer School. Put the dates in your diary - 15-19th June 2015, and book early - only 80 places available! Costs will be £160.00 for all teaching & materials, £210.00 for all teaching & materials, meals and refreshments, and £375.00 for all teaching & materials, meals, refreshments and accommodation in single study en-suite accommodation. There is a slight reduction for couples sharing a double room. Students already signed onto one of our validated courses are entitled to a subsidy on the teaching aspect of the overall cost.

As well as the dynamic teaching, participants share in social times, meals, devotions, evening worship and reflection. Off site, there are opportunities to visit the national attraction Chatsworth House, just around the corner, go into Bakewell, just  7 miles away, whilst Curbar and Froggatt Edge are just a short walk away.

Are you a church member, and want to better read, study and understand the Bible story? You might even just want to come on a study retreat to beautiful Derbyshire to reflect on your understanding of God. If any of this sounds like you, then why not join us here at Cliff on our expanding Summer School programme in 2015? Open to all aged 17 years +.

In 2015 we have six streams of teaching to choose from, with a mixture of 'overview' and 'deeper' themes.

1. ‘Encounters with The Word’ (Bible) an overview exploration of the story of scripture helping participants to handle biblical text in a deeper and more creative way. Ideal for those wanting a better understanding of the Bible, for church members, fellowship group leaders and trainee preachers too.

2. ‘Our Salvation story’ (Theology) - a deeper theological exploration of the subject of Christian salvation. Ideal for all who want to dig a little deeper into the key themes of the Christian faith and increase their theological knowledge.

3. ‘Follow Me’ (Discipleship) – an overview exploration of models of discipleship and the ways in which we can follow Christ in the 21st century. Ideal for those seeking fresh understandings, including lay and ordained members of the church.

4. ‘A revival of holiness; Wesley & mission’ (Wesley) – a deeper look at Wesleyan mission, its methods, modes and relevance for the 21st century. Ideal for those wanting to better understand Wesleyan theology and its continuing relevance and application for Christian mission today.

5. ‘Worship Matters’ (Worship)a practically, applied overview exploration of different understandings of worship, the importance of worship in the life of the Christian community, and fresh ways of creating and offering worship. Ideal for worship leaders, and those with a desire to explore new ways of worship.

6. ‘The craft of the sermon’ (Preaching) – a deeper look at sermon construction, as well as creative and practical delivery. Ideal for established preachers and Bible communicators, as well as those wanting to test out a call to preach.

The teaching streams will be delivered by Cliff College Faculty staff, adjunct guests and Methodist Discipleship and Ministries Learning Network staff, all co-ordinated by Ian White.
