Ian White joined the Faculty staff team in 2001, having previously been a full-time Cliff student back in the 1980’s and a part-time postgraduate student at the college in the 1990’s. He has had links with the college since the late 1970’s having come to faith under the ministry of a Cliff evangelist.
Ian is Senior Tutor at the college and the Programme Leader for the Short Courses programme. He co-ordinates the non validated training provision on site, through day and mid week events, as well as a series of Cliff retreat weekends, week long Cliff College Certificates and longer Cliff College Diplomas. He also heads up the Cliff Summer School programme, co-ordinates the Methodist Worship: Leading and Preaching (WLP) training here at Cliff, and is helping to roll out the new Cliff Local initiative across the UK.
With a long personal involvement in the Middle East, Ian is unit tutor for the college teaching week focussed in Israel/Palestine. The ‘Luke in the Holy Land’ teaching week is an optional course which is offered to undergraduate students and Methodist guests.
He has special interests in social justice and peacemaking, Christian leadership and ministry, spirituality and discipleship, arts and community.
As another part of his life, and supported by Cliff College, Ian is the Executive Director of Micah68, a Christian organisation offering support to the people of the Middle East. This ministry focuses on advocacy, friendship and practical support for a variety of projects across the region.
Ian is a Methodist Local Preacher, worships at a local Methodist Church in Sheffield, and chairs the Sheffield based 35 Chapel Walk arts centre management committee – a mission project focussed on Creativity, Community & Spirituality.
