It doesn’t seem five minutes since we in the full flow of Festival 19 and already we are beginning to gear up for Festival 2020 – Global Vision. The feedback from this year’s festival was extremely encouraging and it is always a privilege to hear of how God has been at work across the site, meeting people in every age group. We love to hear the stories of healing, transformation, calling to ministry and people meeting Jesus for the first time. This year was no exception and hearing the testimonies makes all the hard work worthwhile. Please email me your testimony to email@example.com.
We will continue to pray for each person who attended last year’s Festival and look forward to hearing the ongoing stories of what has been achieved as a result of an encounter with God on this beautiful site.
As we move forward we are inviting you to begin to get excited about Festival 2020, as we are, and we want to share some news at this early stage.
‘Global Vision’ is our theme for 2020. As a college we are investing in our relationships across the Globe. We are working with partners in mission and theological training in every corner of the world and Festival 2020 offers us an amazing opportunity to reflect together and learn from some of those friends who will be joining us. We are inviting speakers and preachers from different parts of the world and we hope they will encourage and enable us to understand and learn from their context. We will hear from places experiencing incredible revival and fast church growth and from those places where persecution is a daily reality. We hope you will come and be inspired and challenged!
We are also very excited to inform you that Revd Shane Bishop, who is the Senior Pastor of Christ Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois, will be leading our Bible Study in the main tent. Shane has been in this role for 22 years, during which time the church has grown from just over 200 to just over 2,500 in weekly attendance.
If you’d like to find out more about Shane then, in the Spring 2019 edition of the Methodist Church’s Connexion Magazine, he shares his thinking on discipleship and how Christ Church has been led by some core values concerning disciple-making that guide it in pursuit of its mission of “connecting people to Jesus Christ”. The Hope Collective
After last year’s successful one-day event will be extending The Hope Collective across the whole weekend, with its own new venue, offering a variety of music, worship, performance and study led by the team who have so brilliantly managed our 18-30s venue for the last couple of years.
We have been listening to your feedback and are moving to an online bookings system this year, provided by our friends at Boxhead, and we are hoping to open bookings at the beginning of October. We know this is later than normal but we are aware of the difficulties of our current system and we want to ensure that we get this right so you can complete your whole booking on line. We will be in touch with the exact date in the near future.
We have been looking at our Festival finances and thanks to the fantastic support of our sponsors, the Methodist Church and All We Can, and our amazing Festival Friends, who give regular financial to support Festival, we are one of the most affordable Christian festivals in the UK. We want to maintain this and also ensure that the event remains free for all under 16s and, in order to do that, we have decided to increase our adult ticket prices for 2020. We will still have concessionary rates available but we hope you will be happy to pay a little more so that others can access all that the Festival has to offer.
Could you volunteer?
Have you thought about volunteering at Festival? It’s a great opportunity to be part of the team who make Festival happen in so many ways … campsite hosts, children’s work, hospitality, logistics, pastors and prayer, photography and social media, sound and light, stewarding, youth work and much more. In return we’ll provide you with food, somewhere to camp and the opportunity to be part of an amazing team. To find out more check out the website at www.cliffcollege.ac.uk/festival/serve
Will you tell others about Festival?
In 2019 we have 1,452 people at Festival across the weekend. This is a fantastic number of people coming together to worship, study, reflect and have fun but we want there to be more. Therefore, in 2020, we are aiming high and are praying for a 20% increase in our numbers. We can only do that with your help and we already have 40 churches who will be advertising Festival and encouraging people to attend. If you would be willing to be an advocate for Festival 2020 in your church please email us, with the subject ‘I will tell others about Festival’, at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be in touch.
