Rev Dr Sahr Yambasu is the President of the Irish Methodist Church and will be speaking at one of our evening celebration services.
After beginning his ministry in Sierra Leone in the 1980s, Sahr was selected for further training at Edgehill College in Belfast. He then was awarded a scholarship to study at Cambridge University in England where he gained a PhD. In 1992, he returned to Sierra Leone with his wife and three children and became principal of the theological college where he had been trained and superintendent of a large Methodist Circuit in the capital, Freetown. The family returned to Ireland in 1995, and Sahr spent more than 20 years serving the congregations of the Methodist Church in Ireland before becoming President in the summer of 2021.
