Certificate in Coaching for Christian leaders

Coaching skills offer a  powerful way to equip others and multiply your  leadership!

After a very successful first delivery in 2019 the Certificate in Coaching for Christian leaders course is offered again in late autumn 2020. This  week-long course is designed to stretch, inform, inspire and offer practical ways forward.

The course is designed to develop coaching skills. It will be especially useful for anyone who is coaching leaders. The skills you will learn will also help in everyday conversations and in the way that you work with teams or in meetings. The course focusses on pioneer church planters and fresh expressions leaders, so the course is deliberately biased towards that setting, but will also be useful for anyone in Christian leadership. Is the Certificate in Coaching for Christian leaders course for you or someone in your team?

Cliff College is delighted to be running this Short Course Certificate under the course leadership of Graham Horsley.  There are only 24 places available on this course, so book early!

Graham Horsley, Course Leader

Graham Horsley has been involved in training church planters for 25 years and has been a professionally qualified coach and coach trainer for the last ten years. Graham is an International Coach Federation Associate Certified Coach, and in his spare time he enjoys escaping into the hills – the more remote, the better!

“I became frustrated with the fact that courses and resources didn’t by themselves create disciples or empower leaders. I found a coaching approach to be far more effective. Come and develop your listening and questioning skills on this course.”

Course Details

Designed by Dr Keith Webb of Creative Results Management, the course has been used to train Church Planters all around the world. The course is led by Graham Horsley, with contributions from the Cliff College Faculty, and other expert coaching practitioners; Elaine Lindridge and Andrea Vertigan.

Elaine has worked as the Newcastle upon Tyne Methodist District Evangelism Enabler for the last 10 years. She trained as a Coach in 2011 and uses coaching skills extensively in her work.

Andrea is a National Fresh Expressions Mission Enabler for the Salvation Army.  She was previously involved in pioneering and planting a new church.  In 2015 she trained as a coach and uses these skills to support pioneers.  She works alongside her husband Andrew in this role and has three grown up children.

During the week there is time for personal reflection and social space, as well as teaching delivered via lectures, seminars and workshops with practical as well as theoretical applications. The course aims to enable new learning, provide the student with skills and resources for both individual and church application, and is extremely practical.
