Let Us Play Spirituality

After successful weekends over the last five years, we are delighted to be offering our next Let Us Play weekend course in March 2020.

Here’s what some previous participants have said about the weekend:

“A great space to experience God and to learn something new at the same time”; “The course was excellent – a good mix of input and creative resources”; “Very informative with good teaching sessions mixed with time to explore play”; “I learnt so much – very relevant to where I am in my journey”, “Really informed my practice”.

A weekend that explores issues of spirituality and play amongst children, this short course will be especially helpful for all those who work with or alongside children, especially focussing on 5-11 year olds. It is an ideal introduction to issues of child spirituality, and for those exploring the healing and therapeutic aspects of play with children. What is the value of play and what place do it have in development? What part do adults have in supporting and developing good play practice?

From the initial session on Friday evening through to lunchtime on Sunday, participants will be exploring issues of play, through both theory and practice, and reflecting on how we can recognise the innate spirituality of children during playtime. All sessions will be interactive and may involve the use of story and creative materials.

Welcomed and introduced by Ian White, Programme Leader, Short course Programme, Cliff College, the weekend course is led by Sheffield based Jenny Lambourne, Director of Time and Space for Children (www.timeandspaceforchildren.co.uk). Jenny is a parent and grandparent with a lifelong commitment to working with children in church, school and community contexts. 10 years as the Children’s Advisor and trainer on the Aurora Children’s Ministry course within the Diocese of Sheffield, she is currently a Godly Play storyteller and Certified Play Therapist working with children with various emotional and behavioural issues. Jenny completed her MA researching into children’s spirituality within play therapy.
