Our next event
Sharing the joyful news this Christmas
Saturday 10 October from 9:30am - 4:30pm
Christmas opens opportunities for meaningful conversations and community connections. At our next Resource Day, we’ll explore the Methodist Church’s national Christmas campaign and help you to plan how to use it effectively in your local setting.
Packed with biblical and theological reflection on the message of the campaign, and practical planning and mission ideas, this day at Cliff College will equip you and your church to engage your community with the joyful news of Jesus this Christmas season.
October Workshops
As part of our October Resource Day, we will be offering afternoon workshops to give you more insights, ideas and practical tools for reaching out to your community. You'll have the opportunity to attend three workshops through the afternoon - you will be asked to select your preferred options when booking your ticket.
| Becoming a Non-Anxious Presence in an Anxious World | Drawing on the Advent narratives, Scripture and insights from thinkers such as Edwin Friedman and contemporary Christian voices, like John Mark Comer, this workshop explores how followers of Jesus can cultivate and embody a calm, courageous and hope-filled presence in an anxious world. | Ali Mackenzie |
| Contemporary Culture & Global Insecurities | In this session, Andrew will look at the challenge of global insecurities and how they are impacting the world. He will address how the church can engage more effectively with global issues and challenges, and will consider practically what we can do in response. | Andrew Stobart |
| Growing in the Spirit | Using creativity, craft and conversation, we'll explore our roots, branches and the fruit of the Spirit, discovering how God shapes us as we grow. | Carole Marsden |
| Local Mission & Implementing Resources | This workshop explores opportunities presented by the Methodist Church's Christmas resources, considering how they can be adapted and implemented to encourage meaningful engagement with local communities and participation in God's mission. | Graham Edwards |
| Maximising Social Media Resources | Explore how to make the most of Methodist Connexional Christmas campaign resources on social media, creating engaging content that connects with your local community and shares the Christmas story effectively. | Ali Johnson |
| Sketchnoting the Bible | Discover how simple sketchnotes — a few shapes, a few words — can bring a Bible passage to life and slow you down enough to really notice it. Andy will teach the basics and guide you through sketchnoting the parable of the sower, with space for your own reflections along the way. No drawing skill required, just a willingness to try | Andy Fishburne |
As well as our workshops, we'll have time together as the Cliff Connexion to worship, pray, share stories and learn from one another. A more detailed plan for the day will be sent to you following your booking.
