Clive’s relationship with Cliff College spanned eight decades, first visiting the College as a schoolboy with his parents in 1952. He returned to Cliff many times as a volunteer at Anniversary and Derwent gatherings, and later worked at the College in various roles including Catering Manager, Clerk of Works and Advocacy and Resources Officer. For the past twenty years Clive has been a regular fixture in the Archives, volunteering his time to manage the vast array of resources and artifacts that tell the story of the College and its impact through the years.
Outside of the College, Clive was a Methodist Local Preacher and a Steward in his local church and volunteered on Scripture Union holidays. His love for his Saviour and his passion for the gospel were evident to all who knew him, and he will be much missed by our community.
Clive has not just been an archivist for the College, but a part of the long story of the College and its role in transforming lives. We owe him a great deal for all that he has done for Cliff College and its students over the decades, and are thankful that he is at peace with his Saviour.
Ashley Cooper, Principal
Gracious God, we give thanks to you for Clive’s life and rejoice that he will rise in glory to live forever with you. In this time of grief, comfort those who mourn and give us all a greater sense of your love and your power. Amen.
