WLP Summer School
This intensive week gives those already training to be worship leaders and local preachers in the Methodist Church the opportunity to do the 'Explore' sessions from the course together as part of an encouraging and supportive community from around the country. Runs 31 July - 4 August 2023.
Led by a team from the Learning Network of the Methodist Church, and headed up by the Course Leader Bob Bartindale, the officer for worship and local preachers in the Methodist Church, Worship: Leading & Preaching is the authorised course for worship leaders and local preachers in the Methodist Church.
During the week, the sessions will be based on the ‘Explore’ material in the Worship: Leading & Preaching course, and will assume that students have completed the ‘Prepare’ sections prior to the Summer School. Opportunities for discussion about building portfolios and other aspects of the course will also be available, and we will share worship and fellowship together. A great opportunity to meet with others from around the country who are in training.
Please note that this year, the Summer School will be offering the opportunity to work through the following 'Explore' sessions:
- Modules 3 and 4
- Modules 5 and 6
- Modules 7 and 8
We are not able to offer this opportunity for modules 1 and 2 in 2023.
As well as the dynamic teaching, participants share in social times, meals, devotions, evening worship and reflection. Off site, there are opportunities to visit the national attraction Chatsworth House (just around the corner) and go into Bakewell (just 7 miles away). Curbar and Froggatt Edge are just a short walk away for those wanting to put on their boots.
Worship: Leading & Preaching is completed in the context of a Methodist Circuit under the oversight of the Local Preachers’ Meeting. The course typically takes two or four years to complete. An intensive one-year programme is also available - you can read more here.
My time at Cliff has made an enormous impact on my Christian journey, affirming and re-assuring my call to preach.
WLP Summer School brings an understanding of some difficult topics and a wonderful opportunity to learn alongside others in the same path and in a similar place.
I feel privileged to be part of this community of Summer School, encouraging each other to keep up the good work. Some of us are going to be friends for the rest of our lives. A big thank you!
